PLAN UNDERWAY FOR EXPANSION OF DUBE TRADE PORT (DTP SEZ) IN SOUTH AFRICA
Expansion of Dube Trade Port Special Economic Zone (DTP SEZ) phase II in motion worth R18 billion
The Expansion of Dube Trade Port is underway in South Africa. This is after funds worth R18 billion investment was unveiled as part of the second phase for Dube Trade Port Special Economic Zone (DTP SEZ).
The second phase of the DTP SEZ will bring an additional 45 hectares of prime light industrial land within the port. Meanwhile, the port is one of two Special Economic Zones (SEZ) in KwaZulu-Natal province. The port has created thousands of jobs and contributed immensely to the province treasury since opening its doors in 2010.
Economic Development MEC Sihle Zikalala in KwaZulu-Natal province said “The site will serve as the foundation of Dube Trade Port’s next phase of investment attraction. He also said it will projected a total close to R20 billion over the next 5 years.”
According to Zikalala, if the first phase of the DTP SEZ is anything to go by, we are doubtless that the second phase will surpass all expectations. The next phase of the project is more good news for the growth and prosperity of the province.
